Job Description:
Join the Martha O’Bryan K-8 team for summer 2024! The MOBC youth development program for elementary and middle school students is designed to support the whole child—academically, socially, and emotionally. In addition to this support, students develop their interests and passion through the arts, recreation, and experiential learning opportunities in Nashville and beyond.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Hours: 300 hours over the course of service, May 28 - June 31, 2024
Stipend: $3370 living allowance (paid out twice monthly over the course of service); $1565 education award upon successful completion of hours; $28/month healthcare reimbursement

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist K-8 Leadership Team in curriculum creation, organization, and implementation
- Build relationships with a small cohort of students
- Provide hands-on academic assistance to students daily
- Help each student achieve success by encouraging students to reach individual goals
- Provide enrichment activities for students based on member’s individual gifts and talents
- Assist Site Coordinators in preparation for upcoming week’s programming
- Create enrichment lesson plans for activities
- Inventory and organize program materials
- Attend and monitor students on weekly field trips
- Engage with students in outside activities and physical education
- Participate in AmeriCorps professional development and community-building workshops

MOBC’s Academic Student Unions (ASUs) support students at Stratford, Maplewood, and Hunter’s Lane High Schools. AmeriCorps members provide students with academic and/or senior case management that cultivates skills and habits necessary to graduate from high school and persist in post-secondary plans.

- Support student growth by creating goals and implementing strategies
- Lead enrichment activities for students based on members’ individual gifts and talents
- Build relationships with a cohort of students
- Strengthen the relationship between school, child, and parent
- Plan and implement activities with teens and families
- Assist with student recruitment and engagement
- Provide hands-on academic assistance to students daily
- Attend occasional parent, school, and staff meetings

- Help each student achieve success by encouraging students to reach individual goals
- Provide enrichment activities for students based on member’s individual gifts and talents
- Plan and execute quarterly parent meetings
- Sustain effective partnerships with community organizations
- Assist Site Coordinators in preparation for upcoming week’s programming
- Create enrichment lesson plans for activities
- Utilize programming information to check attendance and communicate with parents
- Inventory and organize program materials
- Assist with childcare during parent events
- Employ databases to assist programming and grant reporting (NAZA, LEAPS, 21st CCLC, ELAP, SalesForce)
- Collect and utilize data to inform programming
- Participate in AmeriCorps professional development and community-building workshops

- Provide proactive and responsive support for students
- Collaborate to plan and execute opportunities to support experiential learning for students, including project-based learning
- Joyful, responsive engagement with students, families, and community members through planning and support of community events
- Provide operational and logistical support to the Explore! Community School staff
- Welcome guests and potential families at recruitment events and campus tours
- Assist in tracking attendance and dismissal schedules, including the use of Infinite Campus and Google Suites
