Job Description:
The Family Resource Navigator will work alongside the Family Support staff to build trust with community members, recruit community members, to participate in MOBC initiatives, and collect data to tell the story of MOBC’s community impact.

- Identify resources within the community that families can use in times of crisis
- Create connections with outside agencies to share MOBC’s mission and gain an understanding of community resources
- Participate in neighborhood canvassing alongside other MOBC staff and AmeriCorps members
- Present MOBC’s program offerings to community members
- Assist in facilitation of workshops and community programs
- Develop and lead workshops around community resources, including but not limited to digital literacy, cooking club, etc.
- Use research to improve collaboration between programs
- Provide clients with an orientation to services offered by MOBC
- Work with VISTA Community Engagement and Recreation Specialist to develop an informational PowerPoint/tour/video that summarizes mission and services of MOBC
- Create and implement a digital strategy to engage community residents in MOBC events/services via social media
- Support family-centered coaches in organizing and executing special events for clients and community members
- Coordinate with community organizations for family-centered programming, emphasizing healthy relationships, resource access, civil rights, and wellness
- Work with VISTA Data & Analytics Specialist to continuously improve & refine the intake process to ensure collection of relevant data
- Participate in AmeriCorps professional development and community-building workshops

MOBC’s family-centered programs provide stability and support to the entire family. The Family Support Specialist will assist in providing resource information and programming to families enrolled in programs.

- Recruit and retain families for current family-centered programs
- Assist the Family Support team with planning and implementing service and programs for families
- Conduct intakes in collaboration with family coaches and other Family Support staff
- Maintain up-to-date progress notes and data utilizing the SalesForce database and organize client files
- Provide resource information to clients
- Provide educational information regarding MOBC’s services to families in-person, through social media, and through a newsletter
- Assist with in-kind donation organization and distribution

FILLED: AmeriCorps Food Security Specialist
Job Description:
The Food Security Specialist expands the breadth and depth of services offered by MOBC’s Food Security program. The goal of the Food Security program is to empower health families and individuals, many of whom live in “food deserts,” by providing healthy food, nutrition education, and emergency assistance as an integrated part of family resources provided by the center.

The Food Security Specialist expands the breadth and depth of services offered by MOBC’s Food Security program. The goal of the Food Security program is to empower health families and individuals, many of whom live in “food deserts,” by providing healthy food, nutrition education, and emergency assistance as an integrated part of family resources provided by the center.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist the Food Security Coordinator with operating the Food Bank, which includes stocking, building relationships with Food Bank patrons, and volunteer engagement
- Collaborate with other AmeriCorps members at MOBC to promote healthy eating and nutrition through monthly cooking classes
- Work with Food Security Coordinator to create and implement a sustainable system of supply chain management for more efficient ordering and distribution of food in the food bank
- Develop new partnerships with local farmers, CSA’s, farmer’s markets, and other food justice organizations to increase the capacity of the Food Security program to serve the community
- Conduct site visits to other emergency food banks in Nashville to understand processes and increase efficiency at MOBC’s Food Bank
- Participate in AmeriCorps professional development and community-building workshops
